"Lion Down" Analysis Insight to Reality and Like Humans?

In the novel “Lion Down” by Stuart Gibbs on page 8 the author writes, “Cindy challenged. ‘As much as I love these guys, it’s awfully hard to tell them apart. Even when you work with them everyday.” This quote conveys, feelings of disappointment that humans are named but the animals at FunJungle zoo are not named. It is doubtful that this fact in the novel is fiction, for many farms and other zoos evidently do the same. Showing, how the sharp reality to zoos is not so elegant as they may seem. Shortly after, on page 9 the author writes once more, “‘Oh sure, they have preferences, just like us, Cindy replied. ‘Capelin’s like broccoli to them. But herring is ice cream….’” This quote shows, species of animals can view foods in their diet into comparison to our processed and fresh foods. Although some humans have high doses of fish in their diet, nothing comes close to how much fish penguins eat. This proves the author also used this comparison so we could understand how penguins view their prey, Frankly, it shows that penguins sure do love that herring.
