"Lion Down" Analysis Lily Wildlife Efforts

In the novel “Lion Down” by Stuart Gibbs on page 30 the author composes, “Lily had driven us there in her car, an ancient hatchback that she converted to run on vegetable oil.” This quote shows, Lily makes efforts beyond speaking and acting for animals, Instead of wasting fossil fuels for her car engine fuel, she uses vegetable oil. Although this took her a long time to convert her car’s engine to run on vegetable oil, it just comes to show her determination when it comes to animals and their rights. It would be much easier to have bought a car that ran on fossil fuels or electricity, but she chose the option that benefited the environment most. Thus, expressing her commitment (yet again) to those who cannot speak for themselves.
